We love our cars here on the Sunshine Coast. Often through necessity as we just can’t get to some destinations efficiently without them.

But if you had a frequent, fast, affordable, comfortable light rail service along the coastal spine, would you use it?

We’re interested in hearing just what it would take for you to leave the car at home for some trips? When and where would you be more likely to use light rail? What would stop you from using it?

Thank you Sunshine Coast community for your interest in the Light Rail Taskforce.

The nomination period for community representation has now closed and an extensive cross-section of interested community members has applied. The nominations will be assessed against the advertised criteria over the next two weeks by the Taskforce Steering Committee and applicants will be notified soon after.

As the level of interest far exceeds the number of positions we hope that all who applied will become ‘friends’ of the project and continue to contribute their expertise and passion for the Sunshine Coast via Taskforce stakeholder groups and forums which will be advertised on this Project Consultation Hub.

The Light Rail Project Team

Modern cities around the world embrace light rail as a better way of moving people. Light rail is fast, frequent, comfortable and quiet. A single service would potentially move more people than existing public transport, dilute traffic congestion and pollution by reducing the number of cars on our roadways, free up parking and further attract and open up the Sunshine Coast to visitors.

Add your thoughts and ideas on the introduction of light rail to the Sunshine Coast in the Light Rail 2020 online discussion forum and let your colleagues friends and neighbours know so they can also add their ideas.
